The roots of Speicherei go back to 1925. At that time, the company specialised in the operation of grain storage facilities and transhipment facilities on the Rhine, Main and Neckar waterways. The focus was on the efficient transport of stored goods via all transport routes.
With the founding of S&S Speicherei- und Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH in 1994, we further expanded our expertise in the chartering and management of inland waterway and ocean-going vessels.
We also added our truck forwarding services in order to offer our customers all transport routes from a single source.
With this comprehensive service portfolio, we are one of the leading service providers in the combinable areas of inland waterway shipping, ocean shipping and lorry forwarding.

True to the motto “There’s no such thing as can’t”, we can adapt to every customer’s individual requirements. This applies to all rivers and canals in Germany and neighbouring European countries. With our large fleet of more than 20 ships, with load capacities ranging from 600 to 5,000 tonnes per ship, we cover the entire spectrum of modern inland shipping. But we also specialise in the chartering of ocean-going vessels up to 70,000 tonnes.
We transport bulk goods of all kinds as well as raw materials and finished products for the iron and steel industry for our customers’ global trade. Whether as third-party haulage, time charter or scheduled bookings, the range of our services is wide and varied. Certifications
Our company has been GMP + FSA certified for the transport of animal feed and grain in the inland shipping sector since 2004. We are also registered in the VIHB list in accordance with NIWO and in the OVAM register. We also have a waste transport licence.
We are registered with the ‘Central Waste Coordination Centre’ in accordance with Section 53 of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act (KrWG). In addition, we have also been ISO 9001:2015 certified by TÜV-Nord in the areas of inland shipping and lorry forwarding since 2019.
